Defendant: Thomas Woolly
Charge: Manslaughter
Allegation: Woolly is accused in the May 10, 2009 fatal shooting of Lisa Baumann, 19, in an apartment at 4116 Westmeadow Drive.
Background: Defense attorneys contend the shooting was accidental and that the gun fired when Woolly pulled it out thinking an intruder was coming into the apartment. Prosecutors contend Woolly was experienced in handling guns and handled his weapon recklessly.
Status: The trial is in recess today while Fourth Judicial District Judge Robert L. Lowrey handles his Monday docket. Testimony is scheduled to resume Tuesday.
Hang em’! If he’s such a Bible thumper then he shouldn’t have any issues with “an eye for an eye”. I’m tired of reading about these soldiers killing people in my hometown and then getting away with it moving out of state to be forgotten. This case really upsets me because this guy has had enough special treatment! The DA let him bond out of jail and leave the state! The Army also retired him weeks after he shot and killed a teenage girl! So this guy has had enough breaks from our local and federal government levels. If we don’t make an example out of these trigger happy vets now it’s never going to change! We might as well tell them to kill innocent people because they will get away with it anyways by claiming “it was an accident”.
